We often get asked…… Why is our approach to business so different? Even though our business is invisible to the thousands of vehicle owners confidently driving around with one of our cylinder heads purring away under their bonnet, we have gone out of our way to create a product and service that works best for the independent mechanic.  

In 1985 a young Mark, who had honed his business education under the wing of his entrepreneurial engineer father, wanted to test his own business skills and looked at buying into a small cylinder head repair business called All Head Services. He asked his fathers’ chartered accountant Carl, to look into the viability of the business.  

Not long after, Mark became a significant partner. His innovative approach quickly saw the fledgling business take a leading role in the development of a Remanufactured Exchange Cylinder Head Program.  

Customers were quick to adapt to the huge benefits of an exchange system using fully remanufactured cylinder heads. They found the payback from having a “Whole Head Guarantee” plus the substantial saving in time; beat the “partial repair” approach by a country mile. So much so that Mechanics right across the country could buy All Head Services remanufactured cylinder heads from any Auto Parts Store in Australia.  

To ensure we continued to provide you with the best product quality and service we had to make changes that the rest of the reconditioning industry was not prepared to do……. Transform our production systems to mirror those used by leading automotive manufacturers. You see, to give you what you wanted, we had to look outside our own industry, because engine and cylinder head repairers were stubbornly clinging to the old ways of repairing, which suited them and not you.  

Our change to International new manufacturing standards and just-in-time techniques was a long and tough transition, but well worth the effort. But as you would expect we haven’t stopped here …… because what we discovered is that Owners, Managers and Staff of mechanical repair business’s who have engine components repaired often find the whole process time consuming and extremely frustrating.

The problem is the outside contractor has a different work schedule to yours. He’s desperately trying to balance the competing demands of his own customers and regrettably the contractors schedule will not suit you or your customer.  

Cylinder head repairing is no different to any other contractor that you may use. The workday of a cylinder head repair business is very much like the casualty ward in a hospital. At the start of any given day it is not possible to predict how many cylinder heads will be brought in for repair or how complex these repairs might be. Can you imagine, even with the best will in the world, most small cylinder head repairers have huge difficulty predicting with any degree of accuracy the answer to the age-old question………”When Will I Get The Head Back?”
