Lack of oil supply to the overhead gear, rockers, cam, and starvation of the main bearing; this is due to the oil relief valve in the timing cover flogging out or elongating the hole in which the oil relief valve sits in.

This can be reamed out and an oversize valve can be fitted. Oil pump should be serviced at the same time.
